PyromaniaPyromania is an impulse to deliberately start fires to relieve tension and typically includes feelings of gratification or relief afterward, and as such is distinct from arson. Pyromania is classified as a disorder of impulse control; so a person diagnosed with pyromania fails to resist the impulsive desire to set fires (as opposed to the organized planning of an arsonist or terrorist). Pyromaniacs start fires to induce euphoria, and often fixate on institutions of fire control like fire stations and firefighters. If you believe you have Pyromania, then see a Psychiatrist, Psychologist, or Therapist. |
